The committed journalist of Yediot Ahronot continues following the case of power lines.

In summery, today's article says that after the article about Kiron deadly power line had been published, it turned out that there's another deadly line in Givat Shmuel, where Karin Kdoshim lived. She was 16 years old when she got leukemia, and she was convinced that the power line was the reason. She heard the buzzing from the power line, in front of her window. She also asked the head of the local council to remove the line. She was ignored. She died when she was 19.5, and after she died, the power company made a simple action: phases transposition, to reduce the magnetic field. The company's spokesman said that her death had nothing to do with the company's action. They just did it "according to the company's commitment to reduce the magnetic fields".

The power line in Kiron will be removed within one year, as a result of the request by lawyer and mayor deputy, Itay Green, who read the article.

Meanwhile, the company reduced the magnetic fields significantly in Kiron. After the article, hundreds of people asked the Environment Ministry to come and measure the radiation, and the checks will take some time because of the pressure and amount of people asking. The power company spokesman said the company is investing resourses in "wise avoidance", including reducing magnetic fields. He said that the power company follows closely after developments in research and standardisation in the world and will bring information to the public about each development in this area.

The Dirty H Word: How to make an action for health without involving the Health Ministry and without mentioning one dirty word: HEALTH:

Haifa and Aco municipalities, and also the Gardens and Nature Conservation Authority, asked the infrastructure minister to act for burring the power lines. The target is to "reduce damage to nature and view values" The minister gave the job to a team which includes representatives from the ministries: economy, environment, tourism [Tourism ministry and not Health ministry is involved - Israel claims it burries the power lines for tourism purpose and not because of the late media exposures of the health hazards that caused public awareness], power company, authority of power public services. The infrastructure minister, Josef Parizki, says that the consequences of burring the power lines will be :economic, environmental and safety. [no H- word again] The considerations that are taken into account are: land availability and open areas, nature and view values, safety and maintenance. [no H- word. The issue is NOT about health, they silently say]

ANIMALS Mobile phones endanger gorillas' lives

Mobile phones are endangering the lives of some African apes, according a new film.

A rare mineral called coltan is found in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in Africa and is used in making mobile phones and other electronic goods.

But the gorilla population in DR Congo is declining because of the mining of the mineral.

Part of the country is the last stronghold of the eastern lowland gorilla.

The popularity of mobile phones across the world has led to the increasing mining of coltan, which is home to 80% of the world's coltan reserves.

Perhaps that mobile-phone stealing chimp on Monday was just getting its own back!

"If you enter my office, you are invited by me. No one who is invited would like to give me headaches," Brundtland said at a news conference in Oslo, where she attended an international conference on cancer.

...It is unclear how the new Director-General has modified policies, but a systematic shift away from environmental issues would give reason to assume a new reluctance to look into microwave problems. Thus, current WHO levels might have been kept too high.

I think a substantial fraction of all people are predisposed to headache, and perhaps even very low levels of microwave irradiation would trigger pain for these people, whereas the majority would not notice any harm.

Re: On March 10, there will be in Hearing on 3G Mobilphones and masts in the Danish Parliament. Thank you very much for your quick replies and useful information on WHO.

Another question:

Health authorities, Cancer organisation (C. Johansen, J- Olesen, J. Bach Andersen and others) claim that there has be no increase in cancer incidence in the last years, without specification of cancertypes or periods.

Friends et alia: Two or three weeks ago I received an email from someone by the name of McClelland, whom I do not know. It had as an attachment a copy of a newsletter reporting on activity in the Michigan legislature. I'm going to make this short story even shorter.

I have just been at the website: www.senate.michigan.gov

Michigan passed a bill at the end of 2003 making the use of any electromagnetic weapon on a human being to terrorize or injure them a felony which will draw anywhere from 15 years in prison to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

I'd suggest you all take this information to an attorney for instructions on how to proceed. I am not an attorney. What you want to show him or her is Public Act 256 and Public Act 257, both of 2003, both of which were signed by the Governor on December 28th and became the law of Michigan on and from January 1, 2004.

Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI scanners)

While Taken in the context of the material about which this yahoo list is about and the ideas it espouses I would have to guess that MRI scanners may not be as benign as the MRI operatives would gave us believe. Myself, I just don't know. A typical MRI scanner according to what I have read on the net at various academic websites utilizes about 2 to 8 Tesla for the static magnetic field and about 20 KILOWATTS for the RF field which I guess must be pulsed or there would be some frying going on during a half hour scan. The RF field I have read is transmitted via a wire coil placed in very close (inches) proximity to the part of the body being imaged.

My question is should I have a brain scan which the consultant anyway says will most likely turn out negative?

Re: TV for the electrically sensitive

For a long time I had intestinal spasms from this. My husband would disconnect the cable except when he wanted to watch something (not too frequent, fortunately), and I would stay in another room. We moved the tv and its cable so both are now at the far end of our family room, and I can sit in the near end and watch tv.

Your friend could try distancing himself from this and see.
