President Clinton set a new record as far as the sheer number of times he intervened abroad: Somalia, Haiti, Bosnia, Iraq, and Kosovo -- this last, you?ll recall, at Hillarys persistent urging. The 'humanitarian' wing of the War Party is in the saddle, and they are just as ideological, just as bellicose, and just as self-deluded as their neoconservative counterparts on the right. Gadhafi has promised 'a long war.' Is the US prepared for that?

I woke up one morning last week to discover that, thanks to a marriage of convenience between Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and a number of Republicans ? starting with Sarah Palin ? President Barack Hussein Obama has authorized the American military to take part in establishing a 'no fly zone' across Libya, ostensibly in support of individuals in rebellion against longtime dictator Moammar Gadhafi...

The impending war with Libya is now added to the list of undeclared wars being conducted by the Regime in Washington. The Obama administration, emulating the diplomacy of the first Bush administration, circumvented Congress entirely, building an international 'coalition' for a UN declaration of war. It did so in stupendously cynical fashion...

After weeks of vacillation, uttering veiled threats that Libyan dictator Muammar Gadhafi must go while his key advisers made contradictory statements, President Obama has followed the example of his recent predecessors and decided that it is okay for the United States to attack another sovereign nation so long as the United Nations approves it. For an American president to initiate an attack on a nation that does not threaten us is despicable enough, but to justify such aggression by citing a United Nations resolution sets a dangerous precedent that threatens our very sovereignty...

We have allowed ourselves to be stationed in military bases all over the world. We have endless entanglements dating back decades. We are in crushing debt in part because of it and seem to be in a state of perpetual war. As Sun Tzu warned: 'There is no instance of a nation benefitting from prolonged warfare'...
