LLRC has listened to Fallout: The Legacy of Chernobyl (BBC Radio 4 20:00 - 20:40 British Summer-time: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b010mckx .
First impression is that this 40 minute treatment was slightly less unbalanced in favour of nuclear power than the 2006 BBC2 tv documentary Nuclear Nightmares which, according to a decision of the BBC Trust, was biased.
LLRC will make a complaint to the BBC about Fallout: The Legacy of Chernobyl and the manner in which it was used to underplay the likely impact of the Fukushima disaster.
In light of emerging information about the degree and geographical extent of radioactive contaminants emanating from Fukushima, citizens of nations where reckless endangerment is a criminal offence might consider bringing a legal action against the BBC for encouraging members of the public to disregard the potential health effects.
