All wars end, but someone must bring them to an end: someone in authority must order the men to stop fighting, or the fighters themselves must decide to stop fighting even if doing so requires that they disobey standing orders. At least during the Bush administration we had a 'mainstream' media that was partially awake, if only in order to ambush a Republican White House .... Today, however, as Rall s example dramatizes, things are worse: much worse. ... As for us here at Antiwar.com: our nominal allies, the 'progressive' antiwar movement of yesteryear, have deserted us in droves. We urge you to end the current wars and start a national dialogue about shifting U.S. foreign policy away from dominance through military might, and toward being a member of the community of nations. It is time to end all of these wars. It is time to initiate a fundamental shift in U.S. foreign policy away from domination of others through military might and damaging sanctions. As a first step we urge a major withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan - as you promised...
