You wouldn't fight a civil war to uphold a principle or prove a point. You'd fight a civil war only if your survival depends on it. For the same reason, the nation has no business going to war unless its people are threatened. There is no need to get involved or choose sides in foreign wars. There is no need to choose between supporting the government or the people in a foreign revolution. And yet we sacrificed thousands of troops invading two impoverished countries on the other side of the world...
