Australia has been briefed by the US about the imminent release by WikiLeaks of a massive tranche of secret diplomatic cables, which sources say contain allegations of corruption and embarrassing behaviour by politicians around the world. ? Yesterday Reuters reported the views of several State Department sources, who said the corruption allegations in the cables were major enough to ?cause serious embarrassment for foreign governments and politicians named in them.? At the same time, a State Department spokesman, Philip Crowley, confirmed the imminent release and said the US had been contacting foreign governments about the issue...
