''Es gibt das marktkonforme Europa der Angela Merkel, das sich in Brüssel hinter den Institutionen der EU verschanzt hat und im Kielwasser der Krise die Mitgliedsstaaten auf die neoliberale Austeritätspolitik nach deutschem Vorbild umzukrempeln versucht. Die demokratische Legitimation dieses Europas ist jedoch zumindest fragwürdig. Es gibt aber auch noch das demokratische Europa, das trotz der unverhohlenen Erpressungen aus Berlin und Brüssel seine Stimme gegen diese Austeritätspolitik erhebt. Dieses Europa hat sich gestern in der parlamentarischen Versammlung des Straßburger Europarats eindrucksvoll zu Wort gemeldet und der Austeritätspolitik Merkelscher Schule eine klare Absage erteilt. Eine breite Mehrheit der Abgeordneten stimmte über alle Parteigrenzen hinweg mit siebzigprozentiger Mehrheit einem Bericht[*] des deutschen Linken-Politikers Andrej Hunko zu, in dem die europäischen Staaten aufgefordert werden, ihre einseitige Austeritätspolitik zu Lasten der Volkswirtschaft und der sozial Schwachen neu zu justieren, sowie die Staatshaushalte nicht durch Kürzungen, sondern durch eine höhere Besteuerung der Wohlhabenden zu sanieren?''
