Recent Forum on Ionizing Radiation

The abstracts are especially interesting.

The Scientific and Citizen Forum on Radio protection, organized by Independent WHO, which took place in Geneva 12-13 May, discussed the health consequences of the external radiation and internal radioactive contamination created by the explosions in the reactors at Chernobyl and Fukushima. The purpose of the Forum was also to exchange knowledge and experience among experts from both regions and others, including Dr. Christopher Busby, Dr. Youri Bandajevsky, Dr. Eisuke Matsui, and two members of the European Parliament.

Nothing is more firmly burned into my mind than the images from hours upon hours spent counseling soldiers and listening to servicemen and servicewomen tell story after devastating story of their experiences over in the desert and how their lives are forever changed in countless ways in many cases for the worse. Are these devastated lives and in some cases lost lives really worth the ends that they are so carelessly sacrificed for?
