We have spent billions of dollars, perhaps trillions, to rescue big banks. But instead of dialing back on the risky behavior that shattered the economy in 2008, they are doubling down on it. And when their bill comes due we won t just be asked to pay it again. We will be asked to take the blame for it again, too. But who are the real deadbeats in this country? Banks acted recklessly in the years leading up to the financial crisis and ran up a bill which the rest of us have been paying since 2008. And guess what? They are doing it again...

''Mit dem Platzen der amerikanischen Immobilienblase und der Pleite der Investmentbank Lehman Brothers begann die größte Wirtschaftskrise seit den 1930er-Jahren. Mit Rettungspaketen haben die Regierungen erst die Pleite großer Banken abgewandt, dann den Bankrott kleiner Staaten verhindert. Ein Ende ist nicht in Sicht. Noch ist die Krise nicht beim deutschen Steuerzahler angekommen, aber die Frage wird sich stellen: wer zahlt am Ende die Zeche für die Finanzkrise? Die politischen Interessen formieren sich bereits. Egal, ob das Problem durch restriktive Sparpolitik, einen Schuldenschnitt oder durch Inflation gelöst wird, es läuft auf eine Reduzierung von Vermögen oder Einkommen hinaus. Damit wird die Schuldenkrise zu einer Verteilungsfrage. Darüber, wer die Rechnung begleichen muss, sprechen unter anderem der Soziologe Wolfgang Streeck, der Vermögensverwalter Philipp Vorndran und der Ökonom Gustav Horn?'' Traum-Tankstellen für Banken

Der Finanzminister hat die Finanztransaktionssteuer aufgegeben und legt damit die Grundlage für die nächste Finanzkrise. Dazu erklärt die Vorsitzende der Partei DIE LINKE, Gesine Lötzsch:

Die Bundesregierung hat Tankstellen in die Welt gesetzt, an denen steuerfrei gezapft werden darf, allerdings nur von Banken und Spekulanten. Diese Traum-Tankstellen heißen ESM oder EFSF. Der angebotene Sprit hat einen Wert von 740 Mrd. Euro. Normalbürger dürfen dort nicht steuerfrei tanken, sollen aber zahlen. Denn die Tankrechnungen von Banken und Casinos müssen die Steuerzahlerinnen und Steuerzahler Europas begleichen. Ein CDU-Finanzminister, der die Steuern nur bei den abhängig Beschäftigten eintreibt und die Millionäre und Spekulanten verschont, setzt zu 100 Prozent das Wahlprogramm der FDP um. DIE LINKE sieht nur einen Weg aus der Krise: Die Finanzmärkte müssen so reguliert werden, dass von ihnen keine Krisen mehr ausgehen können. Dafür müsste sich die Bundesregierung mit den Banken und Spekulanten anlegen. Doch dazu fehlen ihr der Wille und die Kraft.
