Wi-Fi technology in schools: Is it time to reconsider?

I am a teacher, and because of health concerns, I question whether I want to be exposed to Wi-Fi every day. I wonder if there are others who also feel that there is simply not enough dialogue taking place about this untested technology?

Experts warn schools over potentially hazardous Wi-Fi microwaves

''A six-year-old girl experienced a 'musical heart', headaches and dizziness only while at school. A 12-year-old boy experience tachycardia. A 12-year-old girl experienced nausea, vomiting, no fever, insomnia, blurred vision and tachycardia only at school. Wi-Fi warning presented

Secretary Treasurer Erica Bailey then presented some research she gathered by contacting a number of school boards around the province and surveying them on their use of Wi-Fi technology. Of the surveys she got back all said they had Wi-Fi at schools.

Radio Frequencies and the rise in Autism

Dr. Robert Kane suggests a link between exposure to radio frequencies and the rise in autism in his paper. ''A Possible Association Between Fetal/neonatal Exposure to Radiofrequency Electromagnetic Radiation and the Increased Incidence of Autism Spectrum Disorders''. There are reasons to believe that Dr. Kane might be correct. The fact that mercury is out of vaccines and the rate is continuing to increase and has increased more or less in parallel to the increasing rate of exposure to high frequencies and emf is suggestive. As is the fact that the Amish Community has not experienced a similar increase in the rate of autism, according to this news story which blames vaccines for the difference, the Amish don t vaccinate. Prenatal and Postnatal Exposure to Cell Phone Use and Behavioral Problems in Children by Divan HA, Kheifets L, Obel C, Olsen J and published in Epidemiology on May 7, 2008 also links high frequency exposure pre and postnatally with learning difficulties.

In the book ''The Brain that Changes Itself'' the author, Norman Doidge M.D., discusses the research of Michael Merzenich into brain plasticity. Merzenich has found that many of the symptoms of autism can be explained by the developing brain getting locked into an undifferentiated brain map prematurely. The book cites a study that found that continuous exposure to white noise could contribute to this happening in susceptible children. The mechanism is unlikely to be specific to noise and likely to be responsive to any exposure to large amounts of high frequencies (such as electrical pollution and transmitters). The book is fascinating and I highly recommend reading it. Merzenich has developed a treatment that is based on the premise of high frequency exposure. They have found it to be far more effective than they had originally hoped. The effectiveness would back up the link Kane suggests between autism and radiofrequency exposure since it targets developmental damage caused by the effects of high frequency exposure in susceptible individuals. The treatment Merzenich has developed is a special computer program. It very simple and aims a re-opening developmental windows and properly differentiating the portions of the brain involved. New 100-foot cell tower proposed near Lake Hotel in Yellowstone Park

The National Park Service is reviewing a proposal by Verizon Wireless to erect a new 100-foot cell phone tower in the Lake area.

Service may harm wildlife, tourists and the environment, but who cares if there is a profit to be made?

No wi-fi for our schools or town

This is South Wales

We should remember how asbestos was once considered to be harmless. Tobacco is another example, have we not learned these lessons from the past?

One of the first towns to put wi-fi in their town centre was Glastonbury in 2008. The council recently voted to remove it.
