Phone mast just 15ft from house is 'far too close'

Northampton Chronicle & Echo

Plans for phone masts are usually approved automatically and as part of their application, the phone companies had said the new mast was needed to boost mobile phone coverage in the area. But because of the opposition to the scheme, a final decision on ...

Request for your letter of support for non-thermal language warning labels on cell phones

If you are receiving this email it is ether because you are a doctor, scientist, electrical engineer or advocate/activist on the issue of EMR and health effects.

I am incredibly rushed right now so I apologize. We were just given notice that hearings for the bill will be this Mon., April 11th.

There has been an incredible amount of politics behind the scenes in Oregon on this bill. Rather than spend yours and my time going into all that right now, we need to focus on what we can do to pull this out of the water. Because we have been given no advance notice, we are unable to book ANY of our expert witnesses that we were going to have come testify. To say this is extremely upsetting and a handicap would be an understatement. However, we are still gong to see what we can do about getting the bill passed.

If it would be possible for you to write a letter of testimony in favor of the bill and send it to Senator Chip Shields office and copy the following members of the committee, that would be extremely helpful...

This is Senator Shields email...

sen.chipshields@state.or.us

This is the rest of the committee...

sen.larrygeorge@state.or.us
sen.suzannebonamici@state.or.us
sen.brianboquist@state.or.us
sen.rodmonroe@state.or.us

In case you were wondering, yes we did have the majority vote at the Health Committee. The bill was then moved from that committee and sent to another committee for a vote. It is now in the General Government, Consumer and Small Business Protection Committee...Dont get me started.

Please if you are an MD or specialist on this issue, be sure to put your credentials or your place of work or your job title.

If you are an advocate, you can put your website or any other relevant info.

Also, the business perspective is hugely important in this state. If you are a business man/woman, an entrepreneur who creates shielding devices, or works on the industry/product side of things, perhaps you could state why this would be good for business (it might create a new niche business for Oregonians who run manufacturing or retail companies in and could stimulate productivity with the creation of shielding devices, or whatever else you think of that could make money on this). Money is the issue of the day here in the US. Jobs are hard to come by and this bill being presented as a job creation bill could go a long ways with the Senate.

In case you hadn't seen it, the language of the warning label reads as follows...

WARNING: This is a radio-frequency (RF), radiation-emitting device that has nonthermal biological effects for which no safety guidelines have yet been established. Controversy exists as to whether these effects are harmful to humans. Exposure to RF radiation may be reduced by limiting your use of this device and keeping it away from the head and body.

For ideas on what to say, just anything in your own words asking them to support the bill SB679 and give it a YES vote is fine. It does not have to be long.

Thank you so much again for your help and support. We will keep you posted on things.

PS. Please copy and past the addresses into your own email as opposed to just forwarding this email.

Sincerely, Liz et al

Here is a national (radio) interview I did yesterday on the Dr. Katherine Albrecht show.

http://direct.media.katherinealbrecht.com/archives/1104/20110414_Thu_Albrecht2.mp3

Dr. Katherine Albrecht has actually tried to stop the micro chipping of animals because it causes cancer. She has introduced statewide legislation on this issue (it did not pass) and was interested in our legislative activities. Initially I was supposed to be on for 10 minutes...but we took the whole hour!!). She is so awesome!! You can fast forward through the commercials which take up at least 15 minutes. We discussed our sister citizens lobbying groups nationwide efforts to get a warning label on cell phones...

http://www.AmericanAssociationForCellPhoneSafery.org

...we discussed the Oregon bill and why we want a warning label on cell phones, etc. It was a great interview. She is an awesome hostess.

Enjoy!!! Really, please watch this...You will not regret it...its a VERY important video!!!!!

San Francisco Cell Phone Legislation in Jeopardy
Von: Doug Loranger
Datum: Wed, 6 Apr 2011 11:53:41 -0700

It appears that the San Francisco Board of Supervisors is preparing to cave in to the wireless industrys chief lobbying organization, CTIA, which has filed a lawsuit in federal court against last year's cell phone right-to-know legislation.

While details are sketchy at this point (the Board has been meeting in closed session with the City Attorneys office to discuss the matter), it seems that since the City may be on the hook to pay CTIAs attorney's fees should it lose the case, that may be one factor in the Boards thinking on the issue.

Brain tumor survivors and their families are planning to meet with the Mayor and hold a demonstration early next week in an attempt to fend off this latest bit of extortion courtesy of the wireless industry. I will provide more details as they become available to those who are interested in attending and/or contacting their Supervisor about this issue.

In the meantime, the online journal SFAppeal carried this story yesterday:
